Powder Room Personalization

Designing your powder room can be a very fun, easy, and cost effective project to tackle. It’s a small space that can potentially pack a lot of punch. The costs are low because of the size, so it can be completed on a manageable budget. Without giving the bathroom a huge overhaul, there are a few cosmetic changes that will transform the space without breaking the bank. Here are a few tips for a powder room refresh!

Update the fixtures. Switching out your faucet, towel ring, toilet paper ring, and drawer knobs are quick replacements that don’t cost a fortune. You can change the look with the finish and style. I love using colorful or patterned knobs in these small spaces. It really helps to make the room look custom.

Accessorize. Make sure your bathroom has a few finishing pieces. Things like a vase with flowers or a plant, a scented candle, soft hand towel, a beautiful soap dish, art work or shelving on the walls, and don’t forget a rug. These are things that help to complete the room and bring it all together. If you already have a very neutral powder room, accessorizing can assist in bringing a pattern or color in. This is a room that is frequently used by guests so don’t forget the accommodating details like a nice hand lotion.

Replace the lighting. Such an easy change out that does wonders to a space. You can update your sconces or overhead light for a whole new feel. Make sure you are creating the appropriate amount of light needed for the space, nobody wants a dimly lit powder room to freshen up in.

If you are searching for a DIY project for 2021, this is the perfect place to start. These are changes that anyone can implement in their powder room and create a space that feels brand new. Happy New Year folks!

Painting the walls. Adding paneling or wallpaper will look gorgeous, but make a big statement with a fraction of the price by simply giving your walls a new paint color. I’m usually a rule follower when it comes to using lighter colors for smaller spaces to make them appear larger, but powder rooms are a place to be daring. Go for that bold blue or dreamy green. It will really make an impression.

Painting the cabinets. Forget about replacing the cabinets, go ahead and paint them for a new look. Same idea as the painting the walls, these two things have the most dramatic affect when altering a space. You can paint them a fun color or stick to neutral depending on what you already have on the walls. It’s a small space so I would suggest balancing out a bold color with something more neutral. Wallpaper is a different story. You can always bring out a saturated color that’s in the wallpaper pattern for your cabinetry, it makes for a powerful look.
